As the highly anticipated follow up to the Art of FLIGHT, THE FOURTH PHASE is a snowboarding epic starring iconic athlete Travis Rice as he navigates the North Pacific landscape on a 16,000-mile course. The film was shot entirely in 4K ultra high-definition and delivers action sports in the most high-profile, technologically advanced, epic fashion pushing the limits of film.
The film is as beautiful as it is groundbreaking. Archrival was asked to take on the challenge of creating a website that captures the spirit of the film and its technical achievement. Just as the film pushes the boundary of what’s possible on the mountain and on screen, the website pushes the limits of digital design and development.
Knowing that more than 60% of website traffic will be on mobile devices, we built breathtaking landscapes that could be experienced and delivered to users in a way its never been done before: 3D landscapes rendered in real-time with WebGL that was made for mobile devices. While that development talk might excite some people, for users it was a kick-ass seamless experience that brought the film to life. Have at it!
As snowboarder.com wrote, "The Fourth Phase is essentially a travel-based film, with a twist. In true Travis Rice fashion, the status quo is not good enough, and the theory of this entire movie hinges on the four phases of water." While the homepage set the scene, we dedicated the rest of the site to mirror the exploration and discovery that drives Travis in the film.
